We started our activities in the eastern European market some 15 years ago, right after the fall of the Iron Curtain. MEGGLE Eastern Europe GmbH, which is headquartered in Wasserburg, was founded as an independent company in 2001. The holding company MEGGLE Eastern Europe GmbH bundles the sales and production activities of MEGGLE Consumer Products in eastern European countries. In addition to its seven sales companies, MEGGLE Eastern Europe also comprises three production sites in different central and eastern European countries.
Our largest branch in the East is the wholly owned subsidiary Rajo a.s. in Bratislava, Slovakia. There, 300 employees produce the white range, that is, fruit yoghurts, drinking milk, cottage cheese and cream, as well as milkshakes. Bratislava is the production site for our activities in the European Union with a main focus on the new member states Slovakia, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary and Poland.
Further production sites are located in Osijek, Croatia and the Bosnian town of Bihac. The Bihac site recently gained in importance: it became DIN ISO 9001-accredited as the first and, as yet, only dairy in Bosnia. This is the first step along the road to exporting foodstuffs from Bosnia to the European Union.
In Bihac we produce long-life milk, cream products, yoghurt and butter. The same products are produced in Osijek. You can find a detailed list of our sites on our site location map.
In 2006 MEGGLE Eastern Europe processed 250 million liters of milk.
